Question 1

Do I need to take a class to become a notary in California?

Accepted Answer

Yes. California law requires all new notary applicants to complete a 6-hour notary education course from an approved provider before sitting for the state exam. Renewals require a 3-hour course. Our courses fulfill these requirements.

Question 2

Is Golden State Notary Pro an approved training provider?

Accepted Answer

Our curriculum is built to meet the California Secretary of State's required education standards. The Certificate of Completion you receive upon finishing your course is what you'll submit as part of your notary application package.

Question 3

What's the difference between the 6-hour and 3-hour courses?

Accepted Answer

The 6-hour course is required for first-time notary applicants. It covers the full foundation of California notary law. The 3-hour course is for existing notaries renewing their commission — it reviews updated law and compliance requirements. Both include a Certificate of Completion.

Question 4

How soon can I access my course after enrolling?

Accepted Answer

Immediately. You'll have full access to your course as soon as your enrollment is confirmed. There are no waiting periods or delays — start studying the same day you sign up.

Question 5

When do I receive my Certificate of Completion?

Accepted Answer

Your Certificate of Completion is issued instantly once you complete your course and pass the required knowledge checks. You can download it immediately and use it for your state application.

Question 6

Do I need the exam prep if I take the 6-hour course?

Accepted Answer

The exam prep is optional but highly recommended. The 6-hour course prepares you with required notary law content, but the exam prep gives you 100 practice questions modeled after the actual California notary exam — a proven way to build confidence before exam day.

Question 7

Can I complete the course on my phone?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our platform is fully mobile-responsive. You can complete your training from any smartphone, tablet, or desktop without downloading an app — just log in and start learning from wherever you are.

Question 8

Is Golden State Notary Pro a government agency?

Accepted Answer

No. Golden State Notary Pro is an independent notary education platform. California notary commissions are issued by the California Secretary of State. We provide the required education and guidance to help you get there — the state handles the official credentialing.
